{Testimonial} My wedding witness, such a disappointment Hello to all the blog readers,

Here is my story. I am extremely disappointed with my wedding witness. Here is what happened. At first, everything was great. When I announced my wedding and asked my witnesses, everyone was thrilled. My witnesses were super happy to have been chosen. There was a friend and my sister. The latter even knew about my engagement before I did because my future husband had asked her to join him in choosing the engagement ring for the proposal. Everything went well; my husband’s witness was also overjoyed for us, practically jumping for joy. It was a fantastic moment, and nothing foreshadowed what was to come.

Up until this point, everything was fine. To simplify organization and preparations, I decided to create a WhatsApp group for everyone to share ideas for the wedding, the bachelorette and bachelor parties, and so on. It seemed like the easiest way to communicate what we wanted and didn’t want. We also wanted to give them plenty of freedom as we wanted them to organize the civil ceremony entirely. I also added my best friend, who lives nearby and was incredibly helpful in preparing everything for the wedding.

She did the DIY decorations, was there throughout the two years of preparations, and accompanied me to my wedding dress fittings since my sister couldn’t (she lives in another region). My other witness was also present for these special moments… She truly earned her place as co-organizer.

After some time, I decided to leave the WhatsApp group to let them organize the “surprises” for the bachelorette and bachelor parties and the civil ceremony without being spoiled.

The Start of Problems But after a while, my sister, my best friend, and my husband’s witness alerted me to an issue: “Your witness doesn’t communicate or communicates very little in the group. She never shares her opinions, or if she does, she always disagrees. So we try to find compromises, but nothing works.”

I didn’t understand what was happening. Then, on the day of my bachelorette party, I learned she wouldn’t be coming. She hadn’t even told me she wouldn’t be there. What a disappointment! Especially since she never asked me how it went or if I had a good time.

Wedding Tools I thought she might try to redeem herself for the wedding preparations. She asked what time to come the day before, what needed to be done for the decorations, where the meeting point was, etc. But in the end, she never showed up to help! Worse still, I had made a hairdresser appointment for her to look her best for the wedding day. She never came. I had bought her a beautiful hair comb, which she didn’t wear on the wedding day. For the activities organized by the witnesses, my sister had to push her to host even one.

She simply didn’t care. She wasn’t there for me at any moment that day. She left the wedding after enjoying the food, drinks, and gifts I had prepared for the witnesses… She didn’t even take the time to write a note in the guest book or visit the photo booth.

I had another unpleasant surprise: my florist called me after the wedding to ask me to settle the bill. My witness had told me it would be her wedding gift, but she didn’t keep her promise.

Since the wedding, I haven’t heard from her at all! She was a work colleague who, over ten years of working together, had become much more than that. I know she had a tough life: children born close together, an absent partner, and a marriage that eventually ended. But I think her attitude was unacceptable and incredibly selfish. I made a mistake in choosing her as my wedding witness, but it’s done. I hope you don’t make the same mistake.
